Be Thankful, Eat Turkey Sandwiches, and Vote
Canadians are in Thanksgiving hangover mode today.
I spent the celebration of the harvest in the kitchen, and although that is my ideal place to be on such an occasion, I missed my western family terribly. Contrary Mary decreed that we should eat the leftover turkey quickly so that “no one can get their hands on it”. I reminded her of that lesson she taught her children about sharing. They seem to forget that when they get old.
Today, as we work off all the extra food we consumed on the weekend, Canadians must waddle off to the polls to elect what I predict will be the same damn government we had 38 days ago. This is the first election in my life that I have to admit to being in the category of Undecided. While I would never EVER vote Conservative, I honestly don’t know whether my ballot will be cast for the party that stands to form the opposition, the Liberals, or the party with whom I share many common philosophies but know full well that they’ll never form a formidable opposition much less a government, the New Democratic Party. I might just go completely fringe and vote Green. I guess it’ll all come together once I step into the booth, or in our case, that little cardboard thingy on a desk that shields your choices from all the other people in line.
Canadians, no matter who you support, do your bit today, won’t you?
