Farking Hail!
Weather in the east considers to be a tad on the wild side, as we ride the roller coaster between hot and humid and cold and stormy. Skies change in a matter of minutes, and stories of humans being hit by lightening are on the increase. Weather patterns may be out of the ordinary, but people aren’t.
This afternoon I ran errands in brilliant sunshine. With just a few puffy clouds overhead, the day held enormous potential. When I parked the car back home, I debated the merits of working inside or out. Then, I heard the thunder. The leading edge of the storm moved over the neighbourhood, bringing with it dark, ugly grey/black cloud with straggly ends that my imagination could see extending down to the ground and spawning tornadoes. The clouds moved quickly as thunder rumbled almost constantly in the distance. As I tuned into the local weather forecast, the power went out. Then down came the hail; the most I’ve seen in this part of the country in several years.
Experts attribute the event to a “weak” cold front moving through the area. If that’s weak, I don’t think I’ll wait around to see what “strong” looks like.
